I wanted to become an Astronomer, i took science and home science for 11 and 12th....will it be a bother in my further studies?

Nitin Kumar 29th Jun, 2024

No, having Home Science in 11th and 12th grade won't hinder your path to becoming an astronomer

Astronomy programs in universities typically focus on foundational science courses like physics, mathematics, and chemistry during the initial years. Your science background from 11th and 12th grade will be a strong foundation for these subjects.

While some astronomy programs might recommend biology or earth science courses, Home Science won't necessarily be a disadvantage. The key is to focus on core science subjects during your undergraduate studies.

Ensure you have a strong foundation in mathematics and physics throughout your undergraduate studies. These subjects are crucial for understanding astronomical concepts.

If your undergraduate program offers astronomy electives, take advantage of them to gain a deeper understanding of the field.Look for research opportunities with astronomy professors or research institutions. Getting involved in astronomy research can be highly beneficial for your future goals.

Participate in astronomy clubs or societies to connect with like-minded individuals and stay updated on developments in the field.

Overall, having Home Science won't be a major obstacle in your journey to become an astronomer. Focus on core science subjects, explore astronomy-related opportunities, and demonstrate your passion for the field.

I hope it helps!

i am a commerce students and is that possible after +2 i can choose nursing course

Nitin Kumar 29th Jun, 2024

Yes, you can definitely pursue a nursing course even though you were a commerce student in your +2 (12th grade).

Nursing Courses for Non-Science Students:

  • Auxiliary Nursing Midwife (ANM): This is a 2-year diploma program that equips you with the basic knowledge and skills for assisting nurses in patient care.

  • General Nursing Midwifery (GNM): This is a 3-year diploma program that qualifies you to work as a registered nurse in various healthcare settings.

These diploma programs typically require you to have completed your 10+2 (or equivalent) education from a recognized board with a minimum percentage (which can vary depending on the institution). They might not have specific subject requirements from your +2, unlike some other professional courses.

I get a seat in josaa or wbjee counselling this year but I decide to take a drop. Will I be able to apply for counselling next year? Will I have to cancel my this years seat somehow and how to do it?

Nitin Kumar 29th Jun, 2024

ou can definitely apply for JoSAA or WBJEE counselling next year even if you secured a seat this year but decided to take a drop.

There is no restriction on appearing for entrance exams (JEE Main/Advanced for JoSAA and WBJEE) and participating in counselling again next year after securing a seat this year.

Most institutes will automatically cancel your seat allocation if you don't report for document verification, fee payment, or admission procedures within the stipulated timeframe. There's usually no need for an explicit cancellation on your end in such cases.

It's a good practice to check with the institute you were allocated a seat in (through JoSAA or WBJEE) to confirm their cancellation process, especially if you have any outstanding fees or dues. Their website or admissions office can provide details.

Overall, you can definitely participate in JoSAA or WBJEE counselling next year even after securing a seat this year. Just make sure to confirm the cancellation process with the allotted institute (if necessary) and register afresh for next year's counselling.

hi sir, my son secured 256 marks in BITSAT, what r the chances of getting CS ? If not CS than what r the other options available in BITS ?

Nitin Kumar 29th Jun, 2024

It's difficult to predict with absolute certainty whether your son will get Computer Science (CS) at BITS Pilani or other campuses with a score of 256 in BITSAT.

CS is one of the most sought-after branches at BITS, and the cutoff scores for admission can be very high.

Cutoff scores for CS can vary depending on several factors, including:

  • The total number of test-takers that year
  • The difficulty level of the BITSAT exam
  • The number of seats available in CS across different BITS campuses

While not a guarantee, looking at previous years' cutoff scores for CS at BITS Pilani and other campuses can give you a general idea of the competition level. Search online for resources like "[Institute name] BITSAT cutoff" replacing "[Institute name]" with "BITS Pilani" or other campuses your son is interested in.

If CS isn't an option, BITS offers a variety of other excellent engineering branches across its campuses. Some popular options include:

  • Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
  • Mechanical Engineering (ME)
  • Chemical Engineering (ChemE)
  • Civil Engineering (CE)
