kya me diploma computer science and engineering karne ke baad kis government college me lateral entry mil jayega kam fees lage

kumardurgesh1802 13th Feb, 2025

Hello Divyanshu,

After completing a Diploma in Computer Science & Engineering , you can get lateral entry into government colleges with low fees through various entrance exams.

1. NITs & IIITs (Limited Options)

  • Most NITs and IIITs do not offer lateral entry , but some state-funded IIITs and specific institutes allow it.

  • Examples: NERIST (Arunachal Pradesh), DTU (Delhi), IIIT Hyderabad (via Special Channel Admission).

    2. State Government Engineering Colleges

Many state-funded universities offer lateral entry into the 2nd year of B.Tech at a low cost. Some top colleges include:

  • Jadavpur University (West Bengal) – WBJELET
  • Anna University (Tamil Nadu) – TNEA LE
  • Punjab Technical University (PTU) – Punjab
  • RGPV (Madhya Pradesh) – MP LEET
  • Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) – Uttar Pradesh
  • APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) – UPCET LE
  • MSU Baroda – Gujarat

    3. Lateral Entry Exams for Government Colleges

Different states conduct lateral entry entrance exams:

  • WBJELET (West Bengal)
  • TNEA LE (Tamil Nadu)
  • AP ECET (Andhra Pradesh)
  • TS ECET (Telangana)
  • Haryana LEET, Punjab LEET, Odisha LEET, Maharashtra LEET, Kerala LET
  • UPCET LE (Uttar Pradesh)
  • Goa GCET LE

    4. IIIT Hyderabad – Special Channel of Admission (SCD)

IIIT Hyderabad provides a direct lateral entry route for diploma holders.

5. Low-Fee Private Universities (With Scholarships)

If government colleges are not available, consider affordable private universities :

  • Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Delhi
  • Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), UP
  • Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai

    Fees Structure
  • Government Colleges – Rs.10,000 to Rs.50,000 per year
  • Private Colleges – Rs.1 to Rs.2 lakh per year (with possible scholarships)

Hello Omkar,

Since you've completed a Diploma in Tool and Die Making from a reputed institute like Indo-German Tool Room, Ahmedabad , and have 8 months of experience as a Technician in Tool Maintenance , you have several paths for specialization:

1. Higher Education (Advanced Learning)

If you want to gain deeper knowledge and better career prospects, consider:

  • B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical or Production Engineering (via lateral entry )

  • Post Diploma Specialization (like CNC Programming, CAD/CAM, or Robotics )

  • Certifications in Advanced Tool Design & Mould Manufacturing

    2. Skill-Based Specialization (Short-Term Courses)
  • CNC Programming & Operation (Mastering software like MasterCAM, Siemens NX, Delcam)

  • CAD/CAM/CAE Software (AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, Ansys, HyperMesh)

  • Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) & Reverse Engineering
  • Plastic Injection Moulding & Die Casting Specialization
  • Industrial Automation & Robotics

    3. Industry-Specific Specialization

If you want to move into specific industries, consider:

  • Aerospace Tooling (Learn GD&T, Jig & Fixture Design , and work with precision tools)

  • Automobile Sector (Specialize in Automotive Mould & Die Making )
  • Medical Equipment Manufacturing (Micro-tooling & precision machining)

    4. Career Growth & Alternative Paths
  • Move into Design & Development (Tool Designer, CAD Engineer)
  • Shift to R&D in manufacturing industries

  • Start Freelancing/Own Workshop (After gaining expertise in die manufacturing, mould design, or precision tooling )

  • Go for International Opportunities (Countries like Germany, Japan, or Canada have a demand for precision tooling experts)

    Best Next Steps:
  1. Identify whether you prefer hands-on manufacturing, designing, or automation .

  2. Take a specialized certification to improve your skills.
  3. Look for companies offering upskilling programs or higher roles in tool and die making.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Hello Team, First of all I like to thank you for providing this Q&A sevrices. I have a question. I completed 10th in 2011 and taken Diploma engineering in 2012, I comepletd 6th sem in 2015. I have 8 subject in total backlogs that I never passed. Can I still continue my Diploma where I left? I realise the importance of study now and would like to complete my diploma. Can I apply for externaly to clear those subjets and get the diploma certification? I will wait for your Kind response. You are my hope now. Thank you!!!

Prachi Kumari 12th Feb, 2025

Hello,

Yes, you may be able to continue your diploma and clear your backlog subjects, but it depends on the rules of your education board or university . Here’s what you can do:

  1. Check the Time Limit – Many diploma courses have a maximum duration to complete, usually double the regular course length (e.g., 6 years for a 3-year diploma).

  2. Contact the Institution – Visit or contact your polytechnic college to confirm if you are eligible to clear backlogs.

  3. University/Board Rules – Different states and technical education boards have different regulations on reappearing for old backlogs.

  4. Re-admission Option – If the backlog clearing period has expired, you may need to re-enroll in the course.

  5. External/Private Exams – Some universities allow external students to clear backlogs; verify with your education board.

  6. Apply for Exams – If eligible, register for backlog exams during the next available session.

  7. Consider Alternative Options – If not allowed, explore lateral entry into a related diploma or certification program.

Contact your state’s technical education board or AICTE-approved institutions for the exact process.

I got 88 precentilie cat: SC home state Karanakata, whcih strem i can NIT, IIIT, GFTI etc. to get computer since branch what shoulbe the precentilie i shoud be getting? thanks

Prachi Kumari 13th Feb, 2025

Hello,

With an 88 percentile in the JEE Main exam and belonging to the SC category from Karnataka, your chances of securing a Computer Science Engineering (CSE) seat in NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs are as follows:

  • NITs :

    • Top NITs like NIT Trichy or NIT Surathkal have higher cutoffs for CSE. For instance, in 2024, the closing rank for SC category in CSE at NIT Trichy was around 1,171.
    • With an 88 percentile, your rank might be higher than these cutoffs, making it challenging to secure a CSE seat in top NITs.
  • IIITs :

    • IIITs also have competitive cutoffs for CSE. For example, IIITM Gwalior had a closing rank of 11,494 in 2024, making it highly competitive.
    • Your current percentile may not meet the typical cutoffs for CSE in top IIITs.
  • GFTIs :

    • GFTIs generally have higher closing ranks compared to NITs and IIITs, providing a more accessible option.
    • You may have a better chance of securing a CSE seat in GFTIs with your current percentile.

Hope you find it useful !

I get 66 percent in 12th boards and 68 percentile in jee mains so can I get addmision in ms university baroda for btech cs branch

Prachi Kumari 13th Feb, 2025

Hello,

Admission to the B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program at Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) of Baroda is competitive. The university primarily considers GUJCET scores for admission , with JEE Main scores also being accepted.

Based on available data, the expected GUJCET cutoff ranks for the CSE program are as follows:

  • General Category : Opening Rank: 73; Closing Rank: 761.5.
  • EWS Category : Opening Rank: 763; Closing Rank: 848.
  • SEBC Category : Opening Rank: 1170; Closing Rank: 1511.
  • SC Category : Opening Rank: 2361; Closing Rank: 3339.
  • ST Category : Opening Rank: 3533; Closing Rank: 12257.

Given your JEE Main percentile of 68%, it's advisable to check the corresponding rank and compare it with the cutoffs. Additionally, ensure you meet the minimum eligibility criteria, which includes having at least 65% aggregate marks in your 12th standard.

Wishing you the best !
