In forensic science if we take bsc hons will we get our phd too within 5 years or you gotta do bsc and Msc for 5 Years then phd separately? I heard phd gets included with Msc

Shivanshu 25th Mar, 2025

Dear

In forensic science , if you pursue a BSc (Hons) , the usual academic path involves completing BSc , followed by MSc , and then pursuing a PhD separately. Here’s how the typical academic progression works:

1. BSc (Hons) in Forensic Science :

  • The BSc (Hons) course usually takes 3 years to complete (depending on the country or institution).
  • During this time, you would study core forensic science subjects, such as criminal law, crime scene investigation, biology, toxicology, and forensic chemistry.

2. MSc in Forensic Science :

  • After completing the BSc (Hons) , you would typically need to pursue a Master's degree (MSc) , which takes around 2 years .

  • The MSc allows you to specialize further in specific areas of forensic science like DNA analysis, forensic pathology, or digital forensics.

  • In some cases, if you are pursuing an integrated MSc-PhD program , the PhD may be included as part of the MSc in the same academic track. This is less common but possible in some universities, where you would directly enter a PhD program after completing your MSc.

3. PhD in Forensic Science :

  • The PhD in forensic science is typically pursued after completing both BSc and MSc and can take anywhere from 3 to 5 years (or more, depending on the research project).
  • During your PhD , you will focus on original research in a specialized area of forensic science and produce a dissertation.

To Sum Up:

  • Typically , the BSc (Hons) and MSc are separate programs , meaning it will take around 5 years (3 years for BSc + 2 years for MSc), and then the PhD is pursued after completing MSc.
  • However, in some universities, an integrated MSc-PhD program might allow you to combine MSc with PhD, but it’s not common and will depend on the institution.

Always check the specific university

Hello Shiva,

A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Industry-Integrated) is valid for most government exams, provided it meets the following conditions:

1. Recognition by AICTE/State Board

  • The diploma must be approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or the respective State Technical Education Board .

  • Diplomas obtained from recognized polytechnic institutes are considered valid.

    2. Eligibility for Government Exams

  • Junior Engineer (JE) Exams: Conducted by SSC, RRB, and state-level PSCs. A diploma in mechanical engineering is acceptable.

  • Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs): Companies like BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, and SAIL accept industry-integrated diplomas for technical posts.

  • Defense and Railways: Eligible for technical posts under Indian Railways, DRDO, and other defense organizations.

    3. Higher Studies and Lateral Entry

  • You can pursue a B.Tech/B.E. through lateral entry after a recognized diploma.

  • Industry-integrated diplomas are usually considered valid for lateral entry admissions.

    4. Exceptions and Caution

  • If the diploma is obtained through a distance mode or from an unrecognized institution, it may not be accepted in government recruitments.

  • Verify the recognition status of the institute before applying for government exams.

Do we get opportunity to go abroad for phd after doing bhms in iiser, and how? Do we have to apply ourselves or theres some scholarship from the iiser?

Prachi Kumari 24th Mar, 2025

Hello,

Yes, after doing BS-MS from IISER, you can go abroad for a PhD. You need to apply yourself to foreign universities. Many universities require exams like GRE and TOEFL/IELTS.

Some IISERs offer support through recommendation letters, research experience, and guidance. There are also scholarships like Fulbright, DAAD, and university-specific funding.

IISER itself may not provide a direct scholarship for a PhD abroad, but research internships and fellowships during BS-MS can help strengthen your application.

Hope it helps !

I heve done my intermediate through TOSS ( telangana open school society),and bachelors, pg diploma in braou and i wish to go study in Abroad. Am i elgible for masters?

Vaibhav Awasthi 24th Mar, 2025

Indeed, your credentials from TOSS and BRAOU ought to be adequate for applying to master's programs overseas, assuming your degrees are acknowledged and fulfill the specific criteria of the university and program you wish to enter.

Every university and program will possess particular prerequisites for master's courses, such as GPA, standardized examination scores (such as GRE/GMAT), English language proficiency assessments (including TOEFL/IELTS), and a statement of purpose.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
