12th board percentage is 74% admission in IITs???
Hello,
To get into IITs, the 12th mark is not much important, but your JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED exam scores are very much important. So, it's good you have scored well in your 12th board exam but your JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED score should also need to be well. Also, it depends on the cut-off scores of the exams.
Hope your doubts are cleared now. Thank you.
Hello,
The eligibility for getting admission into IITs, NITs and other CFTIs, along with clearing JEE advanced to get NIT, IIT & CFTIs, the students must have secured a minimum of 75% of marks in their class 12th board exams (65% for reserved category candidates) or should be within the top 20 percentile of their respective Board Examinations.
Thank you!
Hello Aspirant,
See just on the basis of your class 12th percentage you cannot get into any of the IITs because you need valid JEE-Advance score to get admission in any of the IITs especially in their engineering courses.
But yes your eligibility is defined from class 12th marks (it was relaxed for 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic but might get restored in 2022), so if the criteria gets restored and if you belongs to General category then you would not be eligible for JEE-Advance because it requires minimum 75% in boards but if you belongs to any reserved category such as SC/ST then you would be definitely eligible for JEE-Advance and for admission to IITs.
See if you have PCM as your subject combination in your 10+2 along with ne language subject then you are definitely eligible for admission to IITs, provided that you clear JEE-Advance with good score. See earlier their was criteria of 75%(65% for SC candidates), which says that only those candidates would be eligible for JEE-Advance who secure equal to or more than 75%(65% for SC/ST candidates) in their respective boards in 10+2 or should be in the top 20 percentile of their board results, but this criteria has been lifted off for session 2020-21 and 2021-22 because of Corona pandemic.
Also note that to appear for JEE-Advance you must qualify JEE-Main and only then you will be eligible to appear for JEE-Advance otherwise not. To qualify JEE-Main you will have to clear the JEE-Main qualifying cut-offs which are to be released every year along with the JEE-Main result. For this year it is mentioned below :-
==>> Common Rank List (CRL) - 87.8992241-100.0000000 Percentile
==>> GEN-EWS - 66.2214845-87.8950071 Percentile
==>> Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 68.0234447-87.8950071 Percentile
==>> Scheduled Caste (SC) - 46.8825338-87.8950071 Percentile
==>> Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 34.6728999 87.8474721 Percentile
==>> PwD - 0.0096375-87.8273359 Percentile
