5 moles of hydrogen gas at constant volume changes it's temperature from 30 to 60 calculate the entropy change of hydrogen gas if cv =12.6JK-1mole-1
Hello,
When temperature and volume is known then the change in entropy can be given by
S2-S1=M(cvln(T2/T1)-Rln(V2/V1))
ln(1)=0
Molecular weight of hydrogen=2.016
mass of hydrogen for 5 moles= molecular weight* number of moles
= 2.016*5
= 10.08
Therefore the change in entropy S2-S1= 10.08* 12.6*ln(60/30)
=88
