Usually when you speak about India's National institute of Technology, there are various kinds of reservations. So when they say 5% is reserved, you actually cannot exactly predict how many seats as it varies from institution to institution. So if a institute has say 100 seats for a particular branch of engineering, 5% will be a total of 5 seats, so really depends on how many seats a institute offers.
