Hii..khalid...
Hyderabad: The TS government has decided to change the merit quota seat matrix in minority medical colleges from next academic year (2018-19) due to which meritorious students will get additional MBBS and BDS seats. This decision follows recent High Court directions and is in line with merit quota in non-minority medical colleges. Till last year (2016-17), the merit quota was 60 per cent in these colleges. The government reduced it to 50 per cent this year following requests from managements of minority colleges. This led to protests from students and parents.
A few students approached the High Court challenging the government’s decision to reduce the merit quota. The High Court ruled in favour of the petitioners. With this, the government has decided to restore the 60:40 seat matrix, of which 60 per cent comprises merit quota, 25 per cent management quota and 15 per cent NRI quota.
The merit quota seats in minority colleges will increase from 250 to 300. Besides, an additional 200 MBBS seats in the merit quota in the government sector will be added with the approval for setting up one more government medical college in Siddipet. The state has three medical colleges and a dental college for minorities with an intake of 500 seats. The merit quota seats in these colleges will increase from 250 to 300...
Best of luck dear...!!
