Question : A can complete some work in 35 days and B can complete the same work in 15 days. They worked together for 8 days, then B left the work. In how many days will A alone complete 60% of the remaining work?
Option 1: 15
Option 2: 10
Option 3: 5
Option 4: 8
Correct Answer: 5
Solution :
Let the total work = LCM of 15 and 35 = 105 units
So, the efficiency of A = $\frac{105}{35}$ = 3
the efficiency of B = $\frac{105}{15}$ = 7
⇒ efficiency of A and B = 10
In 8 day, A + B completed (8 × 10) = 80 units of work
Now,
The remaining work = 105 – 80 = 25 units
60% of remaining work = 25 × $\frac{60}{100}$ = 15 units
⇒ A complete it in = $\frac{15}{3}$ = 5 days
Hence, the correct answer is 5.
