Correct Answer: 8

Solution : Let the number of 50 paisa coins as 4$x$ and the number of 1 rupee coins as 3$x$.
The total value of the 50 paisa coins
= 0.50 × 4$x$ = 2$x$ rupees
The total value of the 1 rupee coins
= 1.00 × 3$x$ = 3$x$ rupees
The sum of the values of the 50 paisa coins and the 1 rupee coins
⇒ 2$x$ + 3$x$ = 10
⇒ 5$x$ = 10
⇒ $x$ = $\frac{10}{5}$ = 2
So, the number of 50 paisa coins
= 4$x$ = 4 × 2 = 8
Hence, the correct answer is 8.
