With the given percentage we can calculate the weight of different element in 1 mol of the compound that is out of 98.96g

Hydrogen =0.0407*98.96=4.02

Carbon=0.2427*98.96=24.017

Chlorine=0.7165*98.96=70.09

Now we can divide the weight of each element with the atomic weight to get the Number of the elements the

No of H =4/1=4

No of C=24/12=2

No of Cl=70/35=2

Therefore the formula for the compound is C2H4Cl2
