A horizontal overhead power line is at a ht. of 4 m from the ground & carries a current of 100 A from East to West. Find magnetic field directly below it on the ground .
Answer (1)
Hello Ishika
In the given problem, we have
The height of the horizontal power line is from the ground =4m
Now, amount of the current passes through the power line = 100 a
let us asssume that the magnetic field around a long current carrying wire is B
Now , B = ui/2 pi r where u is the coefficient factor, i the current flowing, and r is the height or radius , pi= 22/7 i.e pi in Mathematics
Therefore,B= 4x pi x10^(7)x100/2x4
=5x10^(6) T
Now according to ampere's right hand rule, the direction of the magnetic field will be southwards .
thankyou
