Correct Answer: 44%
Solution :
Here cost price is denoted by CP, selling price is denoted by SP.
Let the CP of 100 kg rice be Rs. 100
⇒ SP of 1 kg = $100 × \frac{100+8}{100}$
⇒ SP of 1 kg = $100 × \frac{108}{100}$ = Rs. 108
25% of 100 kg = $100 × \frac{75}{100}$ = 75 kg
The shopkeeper sold 75 kg instead of 100 kg.
⇒ CP of 75 kg = Rs. 75
And, SP of 75 kg = Rs. 108
⇒ Profit = Rs. 108 – Rs. 75 = Rs. 33
⇒ Profit % = $\frac{33}{75} × 100$ = 44%
Hence, the correct answer is 44%.
