Question : A man walks at a speed of 8 km/h. After every kilometre, he takes a rest for 4 minutes. How much time will he take to cover a distance of 6 km?
Option 1: 70 minutes
Option 2: 60 minutes
Option 3: 69 minutes
Option 4: 65 minutes
Correct Answer: 65 minutes
Solution :
Speed of man = 8 km/hr
Distance = 6 km
Time of rest = 4 minute
Speed = $\frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Time}}$
8 km distance covered by man in 1 hour
⇒ 6 km distance will be covered by man in $\frac{1}{8}×6$ hrs i.e. in 45 minutes.
Also, he must rest 5 times to cover 6 Km for 4 minutes.
So, time taken to rest = 5 × 4 = 20 minutes
⇒ Total time taken by him = 65 minutes
$\therefore$ It will take 65 minutes to cover a distance of 6 km.
Hence, the correct answer is 65 minutes.
