Correct Answer: 400 kg

Solution :
A merchant has 1000 kg sugar, part of which sells at 8% profit and the rest at 18% profit.
Using the alligation method,
The ratio of 1st and 2nd parts = 4 : 6 = 2 : 3
So, the amount sold of 8% profit $=\frac{2}{5}×1000=400$ kg
Hence, the correct answer is 400 kg.
