Correct Answer: 24 days
Solution :
Given:
A person can do a piece of work in 18 days. He worked at it for 12 days and B finished the remaining work in 8 days.
⇒ In 1 day A can do $\frac{1}{18}$th part of the work
⇒ In 12 days A can do ($\frac{1}{18}$ × 12) = $\frac{2}{3}$th part of the work
Now the remaining work is = (1 – $\frac{2}{3}$) = $\frac{1}{3}$ part
So, B finished $\frac{1}{3}$ part of the work in 8 days.
$\therefore$ B alone can do the whole work in (8 ÷ $\frac{1}{3}$) = (8 × 3) = 24 days
Hence, the correct answer is 24 days.
