Correct Answer: INR 60,000
Solution : Let the salary of the man be $x$. According to the question, The person spent 12% on groceries, 8% on medicines, and 20% on children's school fees. ⇒ The remaining balance is 100% − (12% + 8% + 20%) = 60% of his salary. This remaining balance is given as INR 36,000. ⇒ 60% of the salary $x$ = INR 36,000 ⇒ $0.6x=36,000$ ⇒ $x=\frac{36,000}{0.6}$ $\therefore x=60000$ Hence, the correct answer is INR 60,000.
