Correct Answer: 250 m
Solution : Speed of the policeman = 15 m/s Speed of the snatcher = 5 m/s Relative speed of policeman with respect to snatcher= (15 – 5) m/s = 10 m/s Distance the policeman has to cover = 500 m Now, Time by which snatcher is caught, t = $\frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Relative Speed}}$ ⇒ t = $\frac{500}{10}$ ⇒ t = 50 seconds Distance covered by snatcher = Speed of snatcher × t = 5 × 50 = 250 m Hence, the correct answer is 250 m.
