Question : A purchased a dining table marked at Rs. 3000 at a successive discount of 10% and 15%, respectively. He gave Rs. 105 as a transportation charge and sold it at Rs. 3200. What is his gain profit?
Option 1: $22\frac{1}{3}\%$
Option 2: $25\%$
Option 3: $33\frac{1}{3}\%$
Option 4: $37\frac{17}{24}\%$
Correct Answer: $33\frac{1}{3}\%$
Solution :
The marked price of the dining table = Rs. 3000
After the successive discount, the cost price becomes
= $3000×\frac{100-10}{100}×\frac{100-15}{100}$
= $3000×\frac{90}{100}×\frac{85}{100}$
= Rs. $2295$
After transportation charges the total cost price = 2295 + 105 = Rs. 2400
The selling price = Rs. 3200
Profit percentage = $\frac{\text{Selling price – Cost price}}{\text{Cost price}}×100 = \frac{3200-2400}{2400}×100= \frac{800}{2400}×100= 33\frac{1}{3}\%$
Hence, the correct answer is $33\frac{1}{3}\%$.
