Correct Answer: Profit, 3.5%
Solution :
Suppose, the number of goods is 100.
Here cost price is denoted by CP, selling price is denoted by SP.
CP of each item = Rs.1
Total CP = Rs. 100
Then the number of items remaining after theft = 90
SP of 1 item $= \frac{1\times(100+15\%\text{ of }100)}{100}=\frac{(100+15)}{100}=\frac{115}{100}=\text{Rs. }1.15$
$\therefore$ SP of 90 items $= 1.15\times 90=\text{Rs. }103.5$
⇒ Profit $= \text{Rs. }103.5-\text{Rs. }100=\text{Rs. }3.5$
$\therefore$ Profit % $= \frac{3.5}{100}\times100=3.5\%$
Hence, the correct answer is a profit of 3.5%.
