Correct Answer: Rs. 2,000

Solution : Here, Selling price of an object = Rs. 2,100
Here, $a$ = 40%, $b$ = –25%
Effective percentage change = $a+b+\frac{ab}{100}$%
= $40 − 25 −\frac{40\times 25}{100}$%
= $(15 - 10)$ = 5%
According to the question,
Let the cost price of the article be Rs. $y$.
So, $y \times \frac{105}{100} = 2100$
⇒ $y$ = $\frac{2100 \times 100}{105}$ = Rs. 2,000
Hence, the correct answer is Rs. 2,000.
