a solution containing 10.2g glycerine per litre is isotonic with a 2% solution of glucose . what is the molecular mass of glycerine.
Hi Amit,
Given terms
total glycerin content in the solution = 10.2 g/l
glucose solution = 2%
Since, both are isotonic then
pie glycerin = pie glucose (osmotic pressure same)
C1RT = C2RT
C1=C2 (Since, RT cancelled out)
10.2 / Mw X 1 = 2 X 1000 / 100 X 180
Mw = 10.2 X 100 X 180 / 2000
Glycerin molecular weight = 91.8g
