Correct Answer: 15 hours

Solution : Let the time taken by pipe B to empty the tank = $2x$ hours
Time taken by pipe A to empty the tank = $x$ hours
(A and B) takes half of the time that C takes.
⇒$\frac{2}{\frac{1}{2x}+\frac{1}{x}}=\frac{2}{\frac{1+2}{2x}}$= $\frac{4x}{3}$ hours
Pipes A, B, and C together take 6 hours and 40 minutes to empty the pool.
⇒ $\frac{1}{x}+\frac{1}{2x}+\frac{3}{4x}=\frac{1}{6+\frac{40}{60}}$
⇒ $\frac{1}{x}+\frac{1}{2x}+\frac{3}{4x}=\frac{1}{6+\frac{2}{3}}$
⇒ $\frac{4+2+3}{4x}=\frac{3}{20}$
⇒ $9×20 = 4x×3$
⇒ $x = \frac{9×20}{4×3}$
$\therefore x = 15$ hours
Hence, the correct answer is 15 hours.
