A uniform chain of length 2m is kept on a free table such that a length of 60cm hangs freely from edge of the table the total mass of the chain is 4kg .what is the workdone in pulling the entire chain onto the table

Hello

mass of the chain lying freely from the table=

M×1\ L

=4 ×0.6/2

= 1.2kg

The distance of centre of mass of chain from the table =  1/2×0.6m

=0.3m

Thus the work done in pulling the chain = mgh

=1.2×0.3× 10

= 3.6J
