Procedure for selection to mch 2020 course.
hello
Doctor of medicine (MD) is a two to three year doctorate course that studies general medicine in detail. it is a specialization in medical stream that teaches and prepares future doctors. The basic eligibility required is MBBS from a recognized University by MCI whereas Doctorate of medicine(DM) is a post graduate super specialty degree awarded for a course in the field of medicine. the duration of this course is 3 years.
thus, MD Degree is Post-Graduation Degree in Medical field and students are admitted in MD after completion of MBBS. On the other hand, DM degree is given for super-specialty courses. This is a higher level degree than MD
Master of Surgery [MS] is a 3-year full-time postgraduate course. eligibility for this is an M.B.B.S degree from a medical college recognized by MCI. whereas M.ch is a three years post doctoral degree in Indian Medical System which is the highest Master Degree in surgical field. It is a three years post-doctoral degree in Indian Medical System. To qualify for the entrance examination, one must have a postgraduate master degree in General Surgery.
thus, A person specializing in General Surgery would be getting an MS degree. If he/she chooses to further specialize in Neurosurgery he/she would be getting a M.ch Neurosurgery degree.
hope this helps
