Hi young aspirant,
The National Exit Test (abbreviated as NExT) is a planned examination for all MBBS students in India who must pass the final year in order to acquire a licence to practise medicine.
Admission to postgraduate courses will be based on a candidate's performance in NEXT. Introduced by the National Medical Commission Bill 2019,
NEXT also serves as a screening test for Foreign Medical Graduates, who are now required to pass the Medical Council of India Screening Test (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination or FMGE) in order to be admitted to postgraduate medical courses.
The FMGE/NEXT Exam was introduced by the NMC for foreign medical graduates as a licence test for students to practise in India. This exam is only for applicants who have earned an MBBS degree from a foreign medical university.
The major reason for conducting the examination is to meet the following requirements:
1 Obtain a licence to practise in India.
2 Applicants may apply for PG Medical programmes such as MD, MS, and so on.
3 Students must only qualify for the NEXT Exam rather than the FMGE Exam or the NEET PG Exam.
