Yes. There is good scope if you move towards in the same field then that proves to be more easy and beneficial for you.
You need to carry forward your previous studies with a good pace and you are done.
Your choice of course is good and you will perform well considering there is no major switch in the course structure and subject.

Hi,
No for phd in biotechnology course the eligibility criteria is -
A student who has completed Post Graduation in Biotechnology from a recognized University with minimum aggregate marks of 55% (for general category) or 50% (for SC, ST and OBC candidates) is eligible for this course.

So you have to pursue msc in biotechnology in order to do phd from the same course .
