Hello, I hope you are doing well
It is a common thing to assume that a Ph.D. is a teaching-only degree while a professional doctorate is for the corporate people.
The truth is, both degrees have their own value in an academic or professional environment, depending on the type of institute or organization. Also, any of these two could be right for you, if you know what you need to do ahead.
If you want to explore new theory and perform pure science within the environment of an academic life, then the Ph.D. is probably best for you.
If you want to advance your knowledge within a complex, global practice way while challenging yourself professionally, you can go for the doctorate degree.
Go through the links given below to get more info regarding both Ph.D. and Doctorate degree:

After BTech you can go for MTech course after MTech you can go for the PhD (Tech). Now if you want to go for Basic sciences PhD then you can obviously do PhD in Physics, Mathematics & computing, Astrophysics etc provided you must have the necessary qualification of BTech.
Now after completion of PhD, you become the doctorate i.e., you can use the prefix 'Dr.' in front of your name. Apart from this after PhD you can go for the Post Doc which is named to be the highest qualification possible in a subject.
