Eligibility for M.Tech:
Candidates who have completed their BE/BTech degree with a valid score in GATE are eligible for ME/MTech degree course. Candidates who have completed a 5-year program in Science or Applied Sciences resulting in the award of a Master of Science degree are also eligible for Master of Engineering course.

Yes you can do a M.Tech post graduate after a B.E.The difference between master of Technology and master of engineering is type of skill set you will obtain during that period.For instance masters in Engineering would be theory oriented like the principles behind the working of things whereas in master in technology you will be dealing with the outcome oriented studies like where it can be implemented and what materials can be altered.Another option would be MS where you will dealing with research.For Tamilnadu both GATE and TANCET are accepted.Best wishes.
