require Master of Surgery [MS] is a 3-year full-time postgraduate course. Eligibility for which
is an M.B.B.S degree from a medical college recognized by MCI with 50% of marks are
eligible for this course (40% of marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
Master of Surgery [MS] course has specializations include General Surgery, Orthopedics,
Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. In this course,
students study main papers include applied basic sciences, surgery including surgical
pathology, surgery including traumatology, and recent advances. This course curriculum
includes seminars, patient care, journal clubs, clinical case discussions, performing
supervised surgeries, and hands-on clinical experience.
A few colleges offer Master of Surgery [MS] course in India. A government, private, and
deemed colleges offer this course. Every college has their Eligibility criteria, Admission
process, Exam patterns, Syllabus, Course Structure, Training methods, etc
This course is devoted to giving students all the scientific skills and knowledge to become a surgeon in
any specialization. In this course, students study about common diseases, learn how to manage and
diagnose those diseases, and theoretically work on areas include Public health, Pathology, Epidemiology,
and Pharmacology.
Admission to Master of Surgery course is based on merit list or Entrance-exam. Most of the
colleges conduct counseling and select students through merit-list prepared by the state-wise
universities. Some colleges conduct entrance exam to select students for this course admission.
Entrance exam pattern may vary from one college to another. Some of the other colleges
conduct the personal interview along with the entrance exam. Based on both the
performances, candidates will be selected for the course admission. Few colleges directly admit
candidates for this course.
