Lower Divisional Clerk( LDC)

Roles: It is mostly clerical work like maintaining files and documents, making salary slips, replying to email, etc.

Pay Scale: 19,900-63000/-

Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)

Roles for JSA are almost similar to LDC.

Pay Scale: 19000-63000/-

Postal Assistant

Roles: maintaining data of the office, reverting to mails, providing viable input for customer support queries, etc.

Payscale: 25000-81000/-

Sorting assistant

Roles similar to  PA

Payscale: 25000-81000/-

Data entry operator

As the name suggests , the data entry operator maintains the database, creating reports daily, enter data, and format it as required. So you need to have proficiency in Ms. Excel as well as PowerPoint.

pay scale of level -4: 25000-81000/-

pay scale of level 5: 29000-93000/ -

The best job would depend on a lot of factors like :

• Salary expectations,
• Career goals,
• Your educational qualifications etc.

If you have a high expectations regarding the salary then DOE/PA/SA are good-paying job profiles. It also depends on the city where you are working.

However, I wouldn't suggest just go by the salary and also look at career growth.

Now an LDC or JSA is promoted to UDC after completing a year as LDC or JSA.

It goes something like this UDC---->Division Clerk------>Section officer (SO).

For PA or SA the growth is slow. Minimum 5 years experience in the respective role to get promoted.

For DOE.

There will be department-specific internal exams and upon clearing you will be promoted to other roles.

Grade B ----->Grade C------>Grade F which is a system analyst.

Lower Division Clerk/Junior Secretariat with pay band of Rs. 5200-20200 and grade pay of Rs 1900

Assistant, Posting/Sorting Assistant with pay band of Rs. 5200-20200 and grade pay of Rs 2400

Data Entry Operator and DEO Grade A with pay band of Rs. 5200-20200 and grade pay of Rs 2400 respectively

Coming to the salary structure, the in-hand salary of the following posts for the city an individual is posted at has been mentioned below-

Lower Division Clerk/Junior Secretariat Assistant: The in-hand for City "X" is Rs 30608, for City "Y" is Rs 28358, and for City "Z" is Rs 26558

Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant: The in-hand salary  as per the respective city one is posted at is as follows

• City "X" is Rs 36903
• City "Y" is Rs 32757
• City "Z" is Rs 30717

Now, coming to the job profile of each posts, LDC basically deals with clerical activates, maintenance of various files, documents in an effective manner along with proper knowledge of computer is required as they have to register mails, enter data, index it in an organized manner, for SA/PA they mainly deal with customer queries, offering them support, maintaining and  clearance of data, for DEO the typing skills are of utmost importance along with proper knowledge of MS Officer, and its working, hence proficiency in both computer and MS Office is highly essential.
