after diploma in civil engineering. can i change civil engineering to computer science.its possible?

The lateral entry to engineering courses in karnataka is conducted through DCET.It has three sections -Maths,Science and an engineering paper.The counselling is done based on the engineering paper written.But the application form of DCET enters defaultly based on your diploma course.However different states have different rules.For application and admission process you can check this link

If you think about engineering mostly institute eligibility criteria is having diploma in preference branch that is if your diploma is in civil then you are eligible for civil engineering. This is what I know about the most college.
The only way you can change is that go for entrance exam get a good rank then get a admission in your preferred branch because as a diploma holder you can get admission in second year of engineering as a lateral entry that is with the branch you have done your diploma with.
