Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is required for admission in M.Tech courses in government and private institutions. GATE scores are also taken into consideration during PSU requirements. You should apply for GATE after your B.Tech course (or during your final year exams). GATE score is not required for your B.Tech course, but it is very important if you want to do M.Tech in any course.
Hope this answer helps you.
Good luck!!
Hey
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted for admission in MTech/MS programs in India and some foreign countries and for recruitment in various Public Sector Undertaking (PSU).
A candidate is eligible for GATE only after completing his/her undergraduation, GATE is applicable for 25 disciplines to which courses in various Engineering colleges are offered, like Computer Science, Electrical, Physics, Mathematics, Metallurgical, Mechanical etc.
If you have interest in Computer Science and want to further study and explore in it, then you may pursue MTech as it provides deeper knowledge of that particular field, or you can work in Government organization like ONGC, IOCL etc.
