If you have studied MBBS in a Private Medical College under Government Quota, you have to work in the rural area for atleast 2 years. This is a mandatory service period. In case  you do not want to practise, you will have to release yourself after paying the bond amount to the respective State Government. The NMC bill makes it mandatory for every Medical Student.

Hello Divyalok,

After MBBS, one needs to clear the NEXT examination in order to obtain a license for medical practise.

Currently, National Exit Examination (NEXT)  is a proposed amendment to be brought in the form of a test that will be regulated  at final year MBBS level  for all the MBBS enrolled students in India. It is proposed under the National Commission Medical Bill (NMC).  NEXT for MBBS  is believed to be designed in order to test the basic skills and knowledge of a medical student. It will expected to serve as a licentiate examination, clearing which will promote students for medical practise after MBBS. It is scheduled to be amended by 2022.

However if you have had completed your MBBS under a private college, you are ought to serve the rural areas as a part of your mandatory services.

Hope this helps you. Careers360 wishes you the best for your future endeavours!

Regards
