To study abroad after your 12th grade, you'll need to consider taking exams such as the SAT or ACT, which are widely accepted by universities in the USA. Additionally, if you're planning to study in an English-speaking country, taking an English proficiency test like the TOEFL or IELTS is essential. It's best to start preparing for these exams well in advance, ideally beginning in your 11th grade. Most students take the SAT or ACT in the spring of their junior year or fall of their senior year, allowing time for retakes if necessary. For scholarships, the timing of these exams is crucial as many scholarship deadlines fall between December and February of your senior year. Therefore, taking these exams by October or November of your senior year can ensure your scores are available when you apply for scholarships.
For getting into foreign universities, students are generally required to maintain /build up a good portfolio showcasing their grades, extra curricular activities and social work from 9th to 12th grades. some universities give scholarships based on an excellent portfolio. Other colleges ask you to write a 1000-2000 words essay on the topics chosen by them or on the topic “why do you deserve this scholarship“. These essays are a deciding factor for your scholarship.
If you are planning to study in the US, you can fill out the CSS form if you want financial aid but international students can only get aid in private colleges in the US so make a mental note of that.
On the other hand, if you’re planning to study in UK, most colleges there provide scholarship based on your performance in the first year so mostly you won’t be getting any scholarship until you’re in the second year.
Good luck with your admissions!

Hey Imran, there ain't any particular exams to get a scholarship to study anywhere abroad. it's just the requirement that you need to fullfil with your 12 grade and all together, they will evaluate your whole application and then decide upon that about one's scholarship. particulary except for United states, the requirements are just TOEFL/IELTS and for united states it's TOEFL/IELTS and SAT/ACT. Exams such as SAT/ACT will affect your scholarship alot so it's better to score high as possible. You atleast need to start atleast 4-5 before every intake and for united states you need to start atleast a year ago.
Hi Iram,
If you are planning to go to a foreign country for your further education after your 12th grade then you should start planning for the same in class 11th only. As most of the U.S universities accept SAT as their entrance exam and IELTS as their Language test, so aim for the highest marks in these. They will also consider your 12th boards' marks to calculate your total merit. Further, the admission process includes SoPs, LORs and further applications filling which will also include your interest in extracurricular activities. I hope this will help you.
Thank you.
Hello, If you want to study abroad then you should definately write the SAT exam, the ILETS one because there are types in SAT exams too and make sure you have English. Most of the A tier universities consider these marks. Actually most of the universities look upon your 12th board marks.
I myself wanted to study and even got into NYU university and for me in the very long application they asked my board marks, SAT scores and even certificates for my activities like debating or sports etc.
