After qualifying GATE Biotechnology what are some relevant courses (and the institutes that offer them) that you can pursue?
Dear Ardra,
Options after passing the GATE biotechnology exam: -
IISc, IITs, and IISER PhD. Or MTech programmes in fields like food technology, biotechnology, or bioprocess engineering. It is good for three years. The monthly stipend is 31,000. + HRA (If applicable). You do not, however, receive a yearly contingency here. (Applicable if you are a Fellow of CSIR, DBT, or ICMR).
There are very few PSUs that recruit through GATE Biotechnology (0-1). Only one PSU, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), was hiring for the Scientist B job this year. Just one post was available. But in Biotech, BE/Btech equivalent was required for eligibility. NOT a master's in science However, the quantity of PSUs, the number of positions, and the eligibility may change from year to year.
In BARC, you can apply. if your GATE rank is high (top 50/100). Although I am unaware of the precise cutoff rank... You can enter the interview stage for a position with BARC right away ( No need to write a separate entrance conducted by BARC).
The GATE score can help you boost your application for an MS or PhD at a select few foreign universities in Germany, the USA, and Singapore (NTU/NUS). It may occasionally serve as a substitute for the GRE Subject examinations. These advantages differ from university to university. A thorough internet search is necessary.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
