After studying computer science can we specialise in AI and ML?
Artificial intelligence is the area in computer sciences that focuses on developing machines that react like humans and make decisions.
Currently ,It is one of the most important trend in Computer science. To study Artificial Intelligence ,one.must do an undergraduate degree in engineering or in computer science and then go for further specialization in Artificial Intelligence.
On the other hand, machine learning is considered a subset of artificial intelligence. It is the study of algorithms and statistical models and use it to enable a computer system to perform a specific task without explicit instructions but rely on patterns.
For doing your specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and machine learning, you must finish your undergraduate in B.E/B.Tech and then go for GATE exam through which you can go for counselling and try for top Institutions such as IITs or NITs to specialise in that field.
Some of the institutes in India which offer Master courses in Artificial Intelligence are:
University of Hyderabad
IIT Bombay
IIT Madras
IISc Bangalore
ISI Kolkata
IIT Hyderabad
IIT Kharagpur
Not only that ,a specialised course in Artificial Intelligence for the first time is being introduced at undergraduate level . A degree of Bachelor in Technology on Artificial Intelligence is being offered at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad for.the academic session
2019- 2020
. It has a capacity of 20 students and students can go for it through the JEE advanced.
The mission of the Department of Artificial Intelligence, IIT Hyderabad, is to produce students with a sound understanding of the fundamentals of theory and practice of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. It is the first Institute in India to provide an undergraduate course in Artificial Intelligence.
School of engineering and technology ,Jain University also offers B.Tech Computer Science with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence. The eligibility is Pass in PUC / 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics as one of the subjects and obtained at least 60% marks (55% in case of SC/ST category) in the above subjects taken together.
Once you have such specialisation ,there are many career opportunities. As an A.I proffessional, you can expect careers such as those given below:
Data Engineer
Research Scientist
Natural Language Processing Scientist
Machine Learning developer
Automation and Optimization Engineer
Game developer
I hope the above details are helpful to you.
Hi Rudrakshi Ghosh,
Yes, You can easily specialise in AI and ML after studying Computer Science. For that first of all, you need to complete your B.Tech and then give the paper of GATE in Computer Science. After that, you may apply for Counselling for the college which offers the Specialization( All top IIT).
Hope this helps you.
