The test takers of AIIMS MBBS 2018 across both sessions of the first day rated the overall difficulty level of the paper as being moderate to tough, with many saying it was easier than they expected. As per majority of the candidates, Biology was the easiest section of the paper as maximum questions were from NCERT books. Candidates found Physics to be the toughest as the questions were calculation intensive and tricky, which consumed time. Chemistry was moderate with questions from the known areas.
According to the exam analysis of AIIMS MBBS 2018 as given by the test-takers of the first and second shifts on May 26, Physics section was the toughest section of all. The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. The questions were calculative and most of the questions under Physics section came from Thermodynamics, mechanics and Electrodynamics.
The questions under Physics were time-consuming so the candidates appearing in the forthcoming slots were advised to attempt other sections in the starting.
Biology was the easiest section and most of the questions were from NCERT textbooks of Classes 11 and Class 12. Overall, candidates found the questions from Botany to be easier than Zoology. In Botany, most questions were asked from Plant Physiology, Genetics and Biotechnology. Human Physiology formed the largest portion of Zoology.
Last year, Chemistry was considered to be the easiest amongst the three sections of AIIMS MBBS. This year, the Chemistry section was moderate and the maximum number of questions were from coordination compounds. The organic part was lengthy.
The questions under General Knowledge section were inclusive of current affairs and politics, such as ‘Who is the Lok Sabha speaker?’.
Aptitude and Logical Thinking section included mathematical questions related to topics like profit and loss.
The candidates did not face any technical glitches. Even the frisking was smoother as compared to NEET. As expected, the NEET question paper was considered easier than the AIIMS MBBS 2018 question paper by many candidates.
Candidates in the afternoon shift on the first day found Assertion-Reason questions trickier in comparision, particularly Physics, as per the common opinion. Questions from semiconductors were predominant.
Biology comprised more questions from Botany with the curve leaning towards questions from micropropagation. The global warming gases diagram was among the questions asked.
Chemistry focussed more on the organic part of the syllabus.
General awareness questions according to the candidates were on the easier side, including 'Who is the Chief Justice of India?'.
