There is no 'Academic Training' exam for IELTS . The two tests available for IELTS are:
- IELTS Academic
- IELTS General Training
IELTS Academic is required for academic purposes which largely constitute admission to various educational programs at foreign universities. On the other hand, General Training is for other immigration and visa purposes for people who want to venture abroad.
The question paper for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training is nearly the same, the primary difference lies in the subject matter of the reading sections of the paper. The IELTS Academic is focused on academic subject matter and therefore may be considered slightly more difficult than IELTS General Training as the reading section comprises academic exerpts and passages whereas the reading section for IELTS General Training has simpler and more versatile passages. The Listening section of both is always exactly the same.
