Varagani I am sorry to say that with 56.26 percentile in CAT'17 you won't be able to get a call from IMT Hyderabad for the second round of interview and GD. MT Hyderabad accepts scores for CAT, XAT and CMAT and the cutoff ranges from 60 to 70 percentile. There is no sectional cut-off but in order for your application to be further processed, you need to have atleast 70 percentile.
There is again no surety of selection or getting a call from these colleges even after getting 70 percentile because CAT or any other MBA exam marks is not the only parameter involved in the selection procedure. After CAT exam every college in which you have applied prepares a merit list to call students for next round of interview based on your aggregate score which comprises of many parameters such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non-engineer whose weightage varies for all different colleges.
The final selection takes place on the basis of Critical Thinking, Group Exercise and Personal Interview which carry 70% weightage and 30% weightage is given to past academic records.
Yes, you are eligible for IMT Hyderabad. Last year the cutoff was somewhere between 50-55 percentile in CAT, so yes you must receive call this time too.
Prepare well for the further rounds wherein the evaluation would happen on the basis of Critical Thinking, Group Exercise and Personal Interview.
Enhance your knowledge base, go through a lot of current affairs stuff, brush up your academic basics and stay confident on the day.
All the best!!
