No branch of engineering is better than the other, actually at some point of time, one branch which has the highest requirement rises. As, in 90's there was scope of Electrical Engineering. If we move 10 years back then Electronics and Communication Engineering had the highest scope. Nowadays, the Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology has the highest scope. It is expected that the scope of these two will remain in the coming 10 years atleast.

India is a developing nation and quality Engineers are always needed. Any branch you choose but do a lots of research about the branch because it's going to decide your future. See you should not choose a branch because it's good for others you should take a branch which is good for you otherwise you'll feel depressed in middle of the course and it's a fact that many engineering students get depressed and leave the course in middle or complete it half hearted. So choose that branch which you have interest in. Software has bright future as almost all industries are automated and various software is needed in everything nowadays directly or indirectly so CSE has bright future.
