The oxide has 50 percentage of sulphur and 50 percent of oxygen, in its oxide.
So, the steps to calculate empirical formula is-
For sulphur, percentage of sulphur divided by its molar mass- 50/32= 1.56
For oxygen, percentage of sulphur divided by its molar mass- 50/16= 3.12
So, the emperial formula for the sodium oxide is SO2.
