Not to say cumpulsory but it is advised to do so as it shows a better presentation and a skill needed to be in the designing world.
Please try to do so and you will have to give 2 exams CAT and GAT.
And in GAT you night need a good englosh background in speaking/ writting.
Presentation is very important
