Are Indian Doctors working in the USA more happier than Indian Doctors working in India?
It depends on the definition of happiness. Both in the US and in India, Doctors are held high in the society for the nature of job and the amount of hours they put in to save lives. We have been through this couple of times. Indian Doctors need to clear USMLE before they practise in the US. Now that is a quite tough exam and the success rate is less. And unlike in India, the US has a Insurance system in place and a strict one at that. Every Citizen has Insurance and those who cannot afford it atleast get Medicare and Medicaid from the Government. So unlike in India, it is not where in you walk into a hospital treat your patients for a specific time and return home. Before a procedure is being performed, the Insurance department needs to get in touch with the patient's insurance holder and check if the treatment is covered under the Insurance or not. The Doctors tie up with Insurance companies for various treatments. The US Health Care System is interlinked with Insurance. That itself is a difficult perspective from the regular Indian Health care system where in the Doctor has no stake in the insurance deal between the patient and the Insurance company. Life is easier in India for Doctors than those Doctors who go to the US to work there.
