You can use laptop freely,but according to rules you cannot mobile phones, if you use mobile no one will bother you until it disturbs someone(including staff)

you should know something about hostel

Hostels in CIT are nothing like you would expect.
Can you believe that there are no cieling fans in rooms. Above that you have to pay 50 Rs per month for using a table fan.( we used to have hidden fans and never got caught by anyone.)
You can use an induction stove, water kettle and what not. The point is to not get caught. If you are clever enough then this is no big deal. Anyways checking is done once in a bluemoon.
That said, I have never felt the need for using a fan owing to the climate of Coimbatore, that too around the campus area.
