You have said true, packages are mostly based on your performance in the college. For campus selection your academic performance must be good with back in subject. Packages in IIT and NIT depends on your cgpa and your performance in interview of that company. Average packages in IIT and NIT depends on the branch you chose. Average packages are different for different branch. You can opt for both core and non core jobs.
