Are placements good for civil branch ar SVNIT SURAT?
Hi,
The placements of the students in civil engineering is not a mystery.I myself have heard a lot of things about placements of civil engg dept. But I would rather suggest you to see the statistics and record’s :).
Being a Training and Placement Coordinator of 2016 batch, I have noticed that even students in the 3rd year don’t know about the companies that visits SVNIT , civil engg so what to talk about the 2nd year students, but that’s not a problem.
I would like to classify the students of civil engineering department.
1st : whose parents are contractors / consulting fields took civil for this reason only and don’t run after placements in final year.
2nd : students who have fixed goals to go for GRE / GATE /CAT / civil services exams (UPSC) .As there are more vacancies for civil engg. students in UPSC exams. So, in order to keep backup only few of them go for placement’s.
3rd : who really need’s job :) and they request the competitive exam aspirants not to waste the vacancy only for the sake of backup or to show they have a job even after getting good score or confirmation to go for higher studies “ kitna bhi samjhaalo ye nhi sudhrenge :P “.
So all those students who are eligible and wants job only they appear for the placement session . lets talk more logically suppose out of 90 students eligible students are 65/70 approx. ( CGPA equal to or more than 6.5 ).
I just want to say all those who really need placements , almost all of them get an offer ,the students who were unplaced at the end were the ones who haven’t improved their either communication skills ,technical knowledge, ability to express, how to do GD irrespective of their CGPA.
Most of companies visited at the end of the final year. In my batch of 2016 around 50 students were placed on-campus so far ,only 7 were left.
