Correct Answer: 24.7%
Solution :
Let the cost of rice be Rs.$\ x$ per kg.
Price of 50 kg rice = Rs.$\ 50x$
But he bought it at a discount of 15%.
Cost price of rice for Arun $= 50x\times\frac{85}{100} =42.5x$
The price of 5 kg wheat = 60% of the marked price of rice $=5\times\frac{60}{100}x=3x$
The wheat is free for Arun.
Total cost price $= 42.5x$
Selling price of 5 kg wheat $= 3x$
Selling price of rice and wheat $=50x +3x = 53x$
Profit gained by him
= $\frac{\text{Selling Price - Cost Price}}{\text{Cost Price}}\times100$
= $\frac{53x-42.5x}{42.5x}\times100$
= $\frac{10.5x}{42.5x}\times100$
= $24.7\%$
Hence, the correct answer is 24.7%.
