YES you are right! Many companies do not hire integrated M.Tech students as integrated Mtech means you have good knowledge in a discipline / specialization. But Btech students are the ones who is not a master of single discipline but has the basic knowledge of everything. He can be moulded/trained depending on the type of staff a company needs. Moreover, Mtech students expect higher salary over Btech students which companies are not willing to pay. So, Being M.Tech paves the way for research oriented work. They can easlity get jobs in R&D centres or laboratories.
And as you are asking about the campus placement, if your college authorities allows you to sit in the interview of Btech placement then you can otherwise you need to opt for off campus placements.
