In the play, some of the most dominant characteristics displayed by Oedipus are his sheer determination, commitment to truth and justice, and his desire to be a king not only for himself but for the Thebes' people. The biggest irony in the play came when Oedipus saved thetThebes from the curse of the Sphinx and become rightfulrfor the position of he king overnight.
