For the undergraduate programs, there are eleven National Law universities that conduct a common entrance test for Bachelors in Law known as the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Some other universities lead their very own entrance tests. Some of them are Symbiosis Entrance Test coordinated by the Symbiosis campus. A couple of universities recognize the LSAT scores, which is a test-score for LSAT India, coordinated by the LSAC (Law School Admission Council). By then there are state-level entry tests. Law College Dehradun, Dehradun, MATS Law School, MATS University, Raipur, The ICFAI Law School, The ICFAI University, Dehradun, etc.

So you need to collect info about these tests and pick which one you would like to crack and focus your examinations.

7. Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur
8. Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar
9. Chanakya National Law University, Patna
10. Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala
11. National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi.

Now for the three year course the eligibility criteria is as follows

• Qualification- Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 50% marks
• No age limit

There are very few universities left that offer a 3 year course. Some of them are Delhi University based in Delhi and Banaras Hindu University based in Varanasi. They conduct their own entrance examination. Some colleges accept students based purely on merit. There are many local colleges that will award the same degree and they may have their own entrance test or direct selection based on applications.

After securing a Bachelors degree you may also pursue a Master's program in law called LLM. Many premium institutes offer specialization under many fields of law that may purely study based or research based. Its all up to you which path you will take. UGC recently gave way to allow institutes to offer one year LLM course. That is worth looking into.

Career opportunities:

• Join the Bar Council of India or State Bar Council
• Join legal practice as a civil lawyer or a criminal lawyer
• Join the Judicial Services of the state as a Magistrate after passing an entrance examination and work as a Civil Judge or Judicial Magistrate
• Opt for other options like civil services exams
• Different positions in various government and non-government organizations like Law Firms, Consulting and Advisory Companies
• Specialize in one of the various branches of law namely civil, criminal, corporate, insurance, tax etc.
